Positive news from nature’s frontline.

Check out this recently released video made by Martin Stringer for Rainforest Rescue and NightWings Rainforest.

Almost 100 volunteers got their hands dirty by planting 3000 native seedlings in just under 3 hours during the community tree-planting day held in May (2019) at NightWings Rainforest.

“I am so overwhelmed with the turn out of the public tree planting at NightWings. So many likeminded, dedicated and caring people. Really grateful for every tree planted that day.” - Says Annie, Nightwings Rainforest founder -

“Planting trees is one of the best things I’ve ever done. I’m so excited how far NightWings has come. Stage 4 finished!”

Since 2015 with the help of Rainforest Rescue and all the volunteers, 15 hectares of old sugarcane farmland is being restored to native rainforest. The reforestation will benefit threatened flora and fauna by creating a wildlife corridor to the Daintree Rainforest. In the tropics it doesn’t take long for trees to grow and wildlife to return.

This positive message comes at a time when images of fires in the Amazon Rainforest and at the proximity of the Congo Basin (second largest word rainforest) have drawn international attention and alarm. Drought, fragmentation, degradation via logging, farming and mining combine to make forests more vulnerable to fire, destroying the world’s biggest terrestrial carbon sink and most important home for biodiversity.

It is easy to be pessimistic about the state of the world forests, but NightWings Rainforest shows a positive effort to make a meaningful difference by encouraging action to protect the planet for a sustainable future.
Each one of us, as individuals, can make a great impact to protect forests and nature by supporting organizations and philanthropists that work to protect and preserve nature.
